About the role

We are looking for commerce graduates with a strong foundation in finance and an interest in data analysis and problem-solving. As an Analyst, you will support financial and regulatory reporting, investigate data anomalies, create dashboards, and help clients get the most from Smarbl’s technology.

An awareness of current developments in finance and the regulatory landscape is beneficial, but not required.

Key responsibilities

Reporting and analytics

• Gather and document client reporting requirements.
• Support clients with their regulatory reporting obligations.
• Maintain the accuracy, integrity, and traceability of reports.
• Analyze large volumes of financial and operational data to identify trends and investigate anomalies.
• Build financial and regulatory reports using SmartReg.

Business-as-usual support

• Support monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting cycles in line with agreed service levels.
• Respond to day-to-day client queries and provide product support.
• Build trusted, collaborative relationships with client stakeholders.

Product support

• Develop an end-to-end understanding of Smarbl’s products and features.
• Test new product capabilities before they are released to clients.
• Work with client finance and business teams, as well as internal technology teams, during testing and implementation.

Qualifications and skills

Required

• A bachelor’s or master’s degree in accounting, finance, commerce, or a related discipline.
• A working knowledge of financial statements and financial reporting principles.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including formulas, PivotTables, and lookup functions.
• Basic SQL knowledge, including the ability to write SELECT queries and joins.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with close attention to detail.
• Clear written and verbal communication skills.
• A curious, enthusiastic, and confident approach to learning.

Preferred

• Awareness of global accounting standards.
• An understanding of the regulatory landscape and current developments in finance.
• Exposure to Power BI or another data visualization tool.

Training and development

The role includes training in:

• The regulatory landscape and banking fundamentals.
• Data management.
• Financial, risk, and regulatory reporting.
• SmartReg and Smarbl’s wider product capabilities.

Successful candidates will be supported in developing into finance subject-matter experts within the banking and financial services industry.
